Romell Scorteanu

Romel Scorteanu

Mr. Romel Scorteanu founded the company in 1987. Romel has a broad electrical engineering background with significant experience in the electronic instrumentation domain. During his extensive career he pursued research interests across a variety of challenges related to the optical, mechanical, chemical and nuclear fields. He spent more than 30 years on research and testing for railway instrumentation applications such as railways testing cars, bridges stress testing, automatic car identification, force measuring and others. His successful R&D achievements are reflected in the twenty-three patents in the instrumentation registered in different countries like USA, England, Germany, France, Swiss, Russia and Romania. Most of these patents and the related products have been awarded prizes at various international forums.

Alexandru Popistas

Mr. Alexandru Popistas has 38 years experience of railway vehicle dynamics and brakes, including research and design, manufacture, operation, maintenance and repair, rebuilt, modification and upgrade, testing and standard compliance in Europe and North America. Alex has a sound working knowledge of AAR, APTA and UIC Rules and Regulations applicable international standards. Mr. Popistas has authored over 27 papers for technical conferences and magazines in the USA, Germany, Belgium, Poland, Holland and Romania and, co-authored 15 Technical Reports published by ERRI/UIC-Utrecht in Holland. He holds four patents for suspensions and brakes, awarded in the USA and Romania. Alex is currently a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), Society for Experimental Mechanics (SEM) and Air Brake Association (ABA).

Thomas Gazo

Mr. Gazo has actively contributed to the enhancement of several product lines at Romell Inc, including the wireless version of the Smart Shoe™ test sets. His work experience spans over 30 years in a wide variety of domains encompassing telecommunications, electronics, research and development, software and hardware circuit design, and cybersecurity, with a particular interest in quantitative risk analysis methodologies. Thomas Gazo has an academic background that includes a university degree in electrical engineering as well as numerous industry certifications in project management, information security, and risk analysis.

Nelson Caldwell

In Memoriam
Mr. Nelson Caldwell has worked in the Railroad Technical Research and Development business for many years in the fields of Vehicle Dynamics, Car and Locomotive Mechanical Engineering, Track and Vehicle Data Acquisition and Measurement Systems, and Radio Remote Control of switching locomotives. He was Assistant Chief of Technical Research at Canadian National Railway and Chief of Mechanical and Civil Engineering at CN's consulting subsidiary, Canac Inc., from which he retired in 1999 after a railroad career spanning 39 years of service. He was also working in the Railway Industry as a private consultant.
