I used the Smart Shoe™ R-145-WH and R-145-D Wifi equipment 2 weeks ago testing some car and loco equipment for PTC. First, I wanted to let you know how much of an improvement it was to use the new Wifi equipment. The setup time was much faster without having the hassle of getting sensors tangled and twisted in the attached sensor wiring of our previous testers. Additionally, the use of 8 sensors cut my test time in half! It was great being able to instrument the entire car/loco just one time and not having to go between the A and B truck. The tablet was really the icing on the cake. While testing the locomotive, I was able to setup everything and run all my brake tests from the cab of the locomotive. There was no signaling, or communication needed between the guy on the ground and me in the cab. I simply ran the entire shoe force test from the cab of the loco. Same case for testing the car; I was able to test the entire car from the SCT device and watch the live stream of data from the tablet. And using the tablet with a touch screen to input the test notes and recording data was much better than the small computer screen and stylus on the old equipment. These new test devices were a huge improvement! Great job!
